It all began with a scream ringing out into the night. A thud, the crunching of leaves, and finally, the sound of an engine coming to life and tires screeching away from the scene. Unlikely lovers, unlikely friendships, and a war all get ten times more confusing when a baby is involved. AU! of season four of Stranger Things. I know it's very different than the actual season and things get switched around but the idea wouldn't leave my head. It's either my magnum opus or the worst thing I've ever written. This year was going to be my year. We had survived the upside down, I had personally defeated the demobats with my epic rendition of Metallica's Master of Puppets, and Chrissy was all over me. I had managed to crawl my way to a 'D' in Ms. O'Donnell's class, and passed the final, granting me a spot at graduation. I had walked that stage, looked Principal Higgins dead in the eyes, snatched that diploma right out of his hands, flipped the bird, and successfully ran the hell out of here. I had made it, the class of '86! 🤘 Me and the guys got the hell out of dodge as quickly as possible. ... This had been our year, 2002. Chrissy had moved up to teaching High School. She said she wanted to help make an impact in the lives of those who had it like us. We had finally purchased a home, and the band was doing better than ever. We had put out an album and toured a little. We wanted to tell the kids about our adventures in and out of Hawkins, because they kept asking, but we felt they were not ready. My nerdy ass though, came up with the perfect solution. I was reading them the Hobbit, bit by bit, before bed in the hopes of instilling a lifetime love of fantasy in them. Hopefully when the time was right, they could learn about our wonderful life together. ❤️

Instead of shutting down Chrissy confides in Eddie who believes her and they spend a night making a plan to get out of Hawkins.

Chrissy Cunningham has been feeling the pressure of maintaining her image as the "Queen of Hawkins High". She constantly feels the need to put on a persona to keep up this image: putting on a perfect bubbly smile, perfectly doing flips in her perfect cheer uniform, and being shown off by her perfect boyfriend, Jason. Between this pressure and her difficult home life, Chrissy feels about ready to break. However, after meeting (or perhaps re-meeting) known "freak" Eddie Munson, she feels her world begin to shift. Chrissy finds herself living two lives, and soon her freeness she feels with Eddie starts to seem more like a ticking time bomb as she struggles to balance two personalities, appearances, and boys. It's only a matter of time before the walls of her glass castle come crashing down.

A four part series based on Eddie and Chrissy's final year at Hawkins High. Chrissy is an AU version for the purpose of the fic (and also because I haven't watched Stranger Things so, ya know, writers liberty). Thank you to @thegirlwhowritesfics and @crimsonheart01 for hyping me up and giving me notes on Eddie's character. I'm not feeling well so the title is the best I could come up with and it's edited "enough".
