Richie is going to have the best summer in Hawkins ever and nothing is going to stop him. Not the nostalgia of not being with the Losers, not Eddie's girlfriend, not his lame cousin Mike and specially not these weird thoughts that get louder when he's alone. When Mike and Eleven break up in the summer of 1985, an unlikely connection sparks between Eleven and another member of the party. this is set during the quiet after a storm in stranger things season 5, 'Signals in the Quiet' follows dustin and eleven as they go through grief, growing up, and a connection neither of them expected. what started as shared silence and awkward friendship slowly turned into something softer and real, while hawkins is still healing and the upside down hasn't fully faded.

So in my opinion Season 5 was horrible in handling queer representation (as someone who is part of the LGBTQ community herself), especially with queer baiting Byler, so I've combined both of my hyper fixations together, and made a fanfic where Will and Mike get the love story they deserve!

"I don't ever want you to think that I don't want to be around you." Will looks over, searching Mike's face. It was riddled with sincerity. He thought they had ended the conversation, but Mike had his final thoughts to tell Will. "Don't you ever think like that again. I will always want to be around you. I-" He cuts himself off. He takes a deep breath, finding Will's gaze again. "You're my best friend Will. Everyone else is great, but if it came down to it, it would be you. It's always been you." Will couldn't break eye contact. Mike was passionate about it, to the point where Will actually believed him. "Friends?" Will holds out a hand to shake, trying to lighten the mood. Mike stares down at his hand with a scoff, looking back up to him. "Friends? No thanks." Theres a pause before Mike pulls him into a hug. His voice is low and peaceful now as he speaks into Will's ear. "Best friends." While the words felt like acid in an open wound, the hug felt like a breath of fresh air. They would never be more than best friends.

After Mike mom died holly ended up in a forester care where she got adopted by max and Billy parents. It's the autumn after the Starcourt Mall incident, and the party seems divided on how they want to spend their time- making out with a girlfriend who hates his guts, hanging out with two magnificent haired role models, trying to win a depressed girlfriend back, and just wanting to play D&D. Mike and Will seem to be the most at odds, especially when Mike's relationship with Eleven is getting worse. She keeps complaining that Mike wants to hang out "too much". What does that even mean?? They're dating, they should want to be together at all times. At least that's what Nancy and Jonathan do. Not like he's copying Nancy or anything. And Will seems to not care for Mike's issues at all, he always gets so distant whenever he brings up El. But when it's just the two of them, no silly girl problems, things get.. Weird. ○•○ Set after season 3. (1985) I might update every once in a blue moon. All the characters are from Stranger Things. Yea.

What if, Byler did become endgame? What would that change? We all know Will's gay but...what about Mike? How is this potential relationship going to effect his entire world? Will it work out in the end? Do we get a happy byler ending? Does Will find another guy? One thats not just his Tammy? Will Mike be able to move on from Jane, or will she forver haunt the narrative? There are plenty of plot holes in stranger things, I hope to fill some of them in this story. The story isnt in anyone's particular POV, its more like a mix of both. Summary: Dustin trying to escape from Upside Down, choses the wrong gate and ends up in Hawkins from different universe. What's even weirder? He meets El and Lucas and finds out that in this world they are dating. Will it remind him about his long-term crush (or even love) on El from his world?
