She was just another labelled freak. One he couldn't stop thinking about. Steve and Violet never *really* knew each other in high school. Sure, she knew of him, of course she had. He was "King Steve." But what happens when he gets close to her younger brother and Nancy dumps him leaving him lost and confused? He finds comfort in someone he didn't even look at in the hallways. Someone who was always right in front of him yet so invisible. Someone who was completely mislabelled in high school. There's something about fighting monsters together and saving the world that sets you up for a strong partnership, even if it's a bit terrifying along the way. Justin Henderson had always had a thing for photography. She would steal her father's camera and use it to take pictures of leaves, butterflies, her mother reading a newspaper on the couch with her cat Mews, her baby brother playing with his toys, a rock that was sat prettily. She enjoyed the way that everything in photos were real. True, natural beauty, all captured in just a single click. Something she never expected was to make it her job, working at the Hawkins' Post as Jonathan Byers' co-lead of photography was about as good a job as she could ask for. She definitely got a lot more respect than the other girls at the post. But, more importantly to her, she got to take pictures of the beautiful things, the real things. What she didn't expect, was for the real things to become so dangerous. Still beautiful in her eyes, but deadly. Why, oh why, did she listen to Nancy Wheeler about some stupid rat problem? She should've just stayed at the Hawkins' Post, it was safer there. ~*~ Season 3 - Published Season 4 - Writing Season 5 - Prepping

Dakota Henderson has spent her life being split in two. In Hawkins, she is Koti, the half-Black girl in a small town that never quite knows what to do with her, carrying the weight of being different in a place that prefers sameness. In Chicago, she was Koko, the half-white girl who was able to blend more easily, was loved more freely, and allowed to exist without explanation. Two names. Two versions. Two lives she has never fully learned how to reconcile. Now back in Hawkins, as old wounds reopen and an unfamiliar evil stirs, the fragile balance holding Dakota together begins to fracture. With relationships shifting, grief lingering, and fear creeping closer than ever before, Dakota must face the truth she's spent her life avoiding: you can't keep breaking yourself apart and expect to survive whole.
