I clutched the acceptance letter tight against my chest, the smile never leaving my face as I fall back onto my bed. Finally, after being on the waiting list for so long, I've been accepted into King's College. Now I can finally get on a boat and leave this dump. I doodled a small turtle on my wrist as the professor spoke in front of the class, the dude besides me, Charles Lee, threatening to tell the professor that I wasn't paying attention. "John Laurens I can get you kicked out of this class, we're supposed to be taking no-" I cut him off. "Lee I swear to Jehovah's first witness if you don't shut up I will, and don't think I won't, shoot you in the mouth." He went silent. I smiled and winked at him. "Thanks buddy." "No problem." He mumbled back quietly under his breath. I never understood why people get afraid of me when I threaten them. I would never hurt anyone, and I'm only joking. Hell, I'm known as the 'gay turtle kid' at this school. I looked back up and everyone was gone. The bell already rang. I sighed; I always get lost in my thoughts.

Alexander Hamilton is a 19 year old immigrant from a small island in the Caribbean, who has just moved to America and enrolled as a law student in King's College. There he will meet some of the best people he's ever known, and some of the worst.
