Planet Earth, once primarily ours, has been taken from us. Horrifying creatures of all different shapes and sizes lurk constantly, awaiting new prey. A parasitic fungus festers all over earth's surface, infecting any living things that come in contact with it or it's spores and turning them into monsters that crave blood. The weather patterns have intensified exponentially, resulting in normally livable places being as hot as the Sahara desert or as freezing as the North Pole. Society has been uprooted, chaos now reigns supreme, and the majority of the world's population is dead or has been drivien insane. Shuichi Saihara, a teenage boy with no prior experience, has been thrown into this world that's no longer ours. What will it take for for him to survive?
