"I was told not to laugh too loudly-it didn't suit the family." "Someone suggested I change the way I signed my name after marriage." "They discussed my food preferences in a family meeting-without me in the room." None of these moments ended a marriage. None of them caused a scene. And none of them were ever spoken about again. This book begins in those moments. Reasons Why Women Should Not Get Married in India is a non-fiction collection of real, short stories told by women across generations who encountered the strange, uncomfortable, and quietly disorienting realities of marriage. Their marriages were not disasters. Many were stable. Some were loving. But all of them came with small incidents that carried big meanings-moments that made these women pause and wonder when, exactly, they had begun disappearing. Each chapter presents a "reason," not as an argument, but as a lived experience: the comments passed casually at family dinners, the expectations that arrive without discussion, the subtle reshaping of personality, preferences, body, colour, voice, and behaviour. These are not dramatic confessions. They are everyday truths-easy to dismiss, impossible to forget. This is not a book against marriage. It acknowledges that many women build happy, fulfilling partnerships. But it also insists that the quieter discomforts the ones that don't look serious enough to protest deserve to be documented. Intimate, unsettling, and deeply familiar, this book gives language to experiences women usually share only in whispers. It asks no one to reject marriage. It simply asks readers to notice what is usually overlooked. Because sometimes, the strangest parts of marriage are also the most telling.

Kumari Kandam - The lost continent But what if it's history wasn't lost? What if there was a book explaining it's history, but was banned from viewer discretion by the government? What if one interview could bring all back to life? What if the known would narrate? . "Your book, 'Kumari Kangam: The Final Hour', is among many works that have faced governmental bans for so-called 'controversial content.' Why do you think the government engages in what many perceive as unnecessary censorship?" "Fear," she says simply, letting the word hang in the air like smoke. "Governments, like any institution built on fragile hierarchies, fear stories that unsettle their carefully constructed narratives. Books like mine and others mentioned are dangerous because they make people think. They remind us of the power we've always had but are told to forget." . ~ "You seem to like the view," I mused, my voice cutting through the quiet. His lips pressed together in a barely-there smirk. "It would be a lie if I denied it," he admitted, his voice steady. ~ . ~ "Beneath whispering waves, a still silence gathers-waiting. When blossoms rot before they bloom, and silver shadows smile too wide, one who walks among kin shall loosen the roots. Not all floods come with rain. When the eastern wind carries salt to sleeping hills, know-what was trusted will unmake what was built." ~ . "Do you believe this book was reality?" "I know it was. It just needs proof." . [Need reviews? No problem Statements said by people who know the whole plot. "You're cruel, you know that?" "Romance is romancing in the best way possible" "You can't be serious, right? RIGHT? That's not the ending I expected" "I will kill you. Surely I will." (After hearing the ending, hehe) "Oh, to be a character in your book!"] Note to reader : - This book is a slow burn - Vote, comment, and support my book if you plan to proceed, please ❤ ~ Maya 🌷

People always leave, that's why she doesn't want to get too attached. Until one day, there's this boy named Hell. He's personality is the total opposite of his name. Queen Katheryn Howard, birth year unknown but died in 1542 after just two years of being Queen of England and married to a tyrant. Some speculate she was as young as 15 when she was Queen of England. Some say 17 or 19. Some say she was killed by beheading at just 17. Or 19. Or even 21. Whatever her age at these times, the fact remains. She was just a little girl. She was used and abused. Used by her uncle and father to regain power. Abused by three men. Henry Mannox, her 23 year old music teacher. Francis Dereham, her 25 year old cousin on her step grandmother's side of the family. Thomas Culpepper, her 26 year old cousin through her mother Joyce Culpepper. Katheryn Howard was a Catholic. The only thing she had in common with her stepdaughter the Lady Mary Tudor who was at least 5 years her senior. She got on well with her seven year old stepdaughter the Lady Elizabeth Tudor. Katheryn reminded Elizabeth of her own mother, Anne Boleyn. She gets on well with her stepson the five year old Prince Edward too.

Wangu wa Makeri is a story inspired by the life of Wangu wa Makeri (1856-1915), the first and only female chief among the Agĩkũyũ people during British colonial rule in Kenya. The narrative blends history, oral tradition, and cultural themes to explore gender, leadership, and power. The book portrays Wangu as a strong, ambitious, and intelligent woman who rose to leadership in a time when authority was traditionally reserved for men. She became a chief under the colonial system, ruling with firmness and authority, earning both admiration and criticism. Her leadership is shown as groundbreaking but also controversial-while she embodied courage and challenged patriarchal norms, her reign was marked by tensions with both men and women in the community. Eventually, her downfall came after scandal and resistance from elders, yet her legacy lived on as a symbol of defiance and female strength.
