It is a labour of love to tell the intriguing story of a minor historical footnote. Although a work of fiction, it is inspired by real historical people and known artefacts of Roman times, c.180CE.

Writing a chapter in a book with the working title '1830' I found myself re-constructing a wedding in Arlesey, Bedfordshire in the December of that year. Having most of the names of the individual family members who could be at the wedding, I decided to look more closely at the data.
