A messy haired boy, still yet to lose his youthful appearance, jumped out from behind Kaneki, grabbing his shoulders, knocking him to the ground in the process. Collecting himself off the hard linoleum kitchen floor, Kaneki pointedly glared at the attacker. Despite the hostility being directed towards him, the boy only smiled wider. Sighing, Kaneki stood up, and fixing a stern look, he firmly stated, "Hide, can't you see I'm working? What if I was carrying coffee cups? And they broke?" Hide only proceeded to cross his arms behind his head and roll his eyes instead. "Well, you weren't holding anything. Plus, even if you did drop anything, the angry purple haired girl isn't here to yell at you." "You mean Touka?" Kaneki clarified. Hide shrugged, instead offering out his hand for Kaneki to take hold of. Taking Hide's hand and pulling himself, Kaneki dusted the dust off of his uniform. Turning to face Hide, Kaneki sighed, before asking, "Why are you here?"

A light blonde haired man with brown highlights sighed as he rubbed at his temples. "What do I do..?" "H-Hide..?" a soft voice whispered from behind him, a weight slumping against his back. Rolling his eyes fondly, the man- Hide, chortled and turned around with a smile. "Woah," he exclaimed, "speak of the devil!" "Hide!" "Sorry, sorry, 'Neki!" Hide laughed as he felt a face nuzzle into his shoulder and hands clutch at his arm. "What's up?" He asked turning around. "Oh 'Neki..." Face softening, the man smiled genuinely. Behind him, in all her glory stood his lovely and heavily pregnant wife that he loves so. Hide watches gleefully as the woman's cheeks flushed and her grip on his arm tightened. "Well?" He hummed. Kaneki's flushed a brighter red as she stammered, "I-I'm hungry.."

Kaneki grew up alone with no friends- His mother had died while he was still young, and his father was always working. He felt nothing put loneliness until the day he encounters Hide his new next door neighbor, which brings unknown feelings for Kaneki brought to light.

Kaneki has had lots of troubles dealing with Anxiety all his life and he's had many depression problems. he doesn't let it show because he doesn't want to be judged and ridiculed. Ayato has always dealt with depression, his family life was never okay, his sister took her own life and he was bullied as a child. He isolates himself so that he won't feel pain anymore. What will happen when these two meet? will they be each other's rocks? or will it lead to more pain.
