This is an Elder Scrolls Fanfiction that takes place during The Dragonborn DLC for Skyrim, and you might've already guessed this but I'm going to mention this anyway, the book takes place in... Skyrim *gasp* The main character is a female Khajiit named M'Zhara who lost her memory when she first came to Skyrim. She was left with only a few items, hooded black priest robes, a staff of frostbite and a satchel with her name carved in it. The Khajiit was rescued by an Altmer named Cynriel and a fellow Khajiit named Lori, who took her to the nearest town, Winterhold. M'Zhara decided to go to the college there after learning that Cynriel currently went there, and that it was a good source on the uses of Magic. She made many friends there, and a few enemies as well. One day, after learning and witnessing vampire attacks, Cynriel and M'Zhara decided to go join the Dawguard, a group of vampire hunters. Things happened, people died and the prophecy to eliminate the sun was complete. The vampires of Tamriel were now almost completely unstoppable, so the group of vampire hunters were forced to move their fort to the boarder of Cyrodiil.

Soon, the Imperial boy became a man & moved on from the home he knew. He fast transformed into, what one could call, a small giant with incomprehensible power. Altmer Eyrasabeth was abandoned as an infant on the porch of young Rylon's parents' house. The Elf and the Argonian grew up together as brother & sister with an Argonian father & an Imperial mother. Just as Rylon entered adulthood, soldiers broke the family apart by execution for prolonged Blackmarsh law violations. Rylon and his sister, being able to escape their fates, entered a new one. As Eyrasabeth entered womanhood, she chanced an escape to Skyrim from Argonian Soldiers. For the first time in their lives, Rylon and Eyrasabeth were split apart. Now, the three will congregate to fulfill their individual birth rites as DragonBorn.

No one from outside of the veil can enter, but there are consequences for using such dark magic. Allowing a consistent source of Abyssal magic into the world caused the eastern part of Kaelthun to fall into an eternal night. High Elves and Lowland Elves a like became infected by the blast of abyssal magic causing them to mutate. Being exposed to so much darkness was transformative. The Elves became darker - skin tones ranging from a faint purple to a crescent grey. Hair can be several dark shades and eyes generally are silver, blue, and very rarely are black. These are Elves now call themselves Stygian Elves and it is time for a new kingdom to rise on the continent of Kaelthun. A Kingdom of Night and Shadows - the Stygian Elves have come.
