Marilyn always gets good roles in the school play. Sara only signed up because she needed an extra circular activity. Anna was forced to audition by her mother. Marilyn is talented. Sara thinks she's talented. Anna has no confidence at all. Marilyn is friendly but has no really close friends. Sara is the type of girl who posts pictures on Instagram of her and her million friends, captioning them with pop song lyrics. Anna is a total nerd, and also a geek, in addition to being a lover of all things knowledge. They're not similar people, in fact none of them have ever even spoken to one another before. So what could possibly bring them together? There's only one thing that takes different people from different places. That makes a show of real life. That's the music, the dance steps, the stage make up and the costume changes of dressing room number seven.

15-year-old Anna Davis is about to start her freshman year of high school at Kensington CAPA. She is also the youngest member of Philadelphia's City Theatre Troupe. After her first audition, she is cast as the lead character in the school musical, becoming the first freshman to do so. At the same time, she also has to juggle, school, theatre, and a social life at the same time. Will she be able to grow into the role, or will she shy away from the stage?
