He didn't ask to be the so-called, totally-cliché "Chosen One". That's what Kai and his idiotic demon-hunting friends say he is. He didn't want to join Kai and "the team" and slay the world's demons. And that goddamn Demon Overlord keeps trying to kill them. Seriously? I don't think he knows about Kyungsoo's big math test next week. So why is Kyungsoo helping these demon hunters? He might just be infatuated with a certain Kim Jongin.
