It's April of 1976.
Curtis, born, raised and widowed young in the quiet hamlet of Lewiston Lake, purchases a classifieds ad in search of an all-around handyman to help get his farm into order for a 4th of July bash.
Martina, a local college student on her way home answers the ad, and soon after, sparks fly. Though the pair can't deny the tender feelings they feel for each other, their age gap and differences, a competing neighbor's party, and Martina's dark and mysterious past threaten their connection.
Still, they are bound by a love for the land, an undeniably sexy attraction, and a deep understanding of grief, loss, and loneliness.
Their story gives way to a golden backdrop of the sweet bicentennial summer of 1976, fleeting hippie culture, changing tides in romance and sexuality, and the biggest, epic, most anticipated 4th of July party of the era.

For my one reader who starred (I love you, and the other star is me haha), I'm reviving and repairing major plot-holes from the two original chapters.
