Prologue - A Confession Before the Story Begins
Before I begin, I need to confess something.
I am not the calm girl in this story. I am not the detached observer who loved wisely and left gracefully. I am the one who felt too much, thought too deeply, and imagined too vividly. I am the one who replayed conversations like evidence, who found meaning in silence, who turned absence into poetry.
This is not an apology for my intensity.
It is an acknowledgment of it.
He never promised me anything. He never asked to be admired this way. And yet, my heart chose him without consulting logic or pride. That is the risk of being someone who loves with her whole nervous system.
This book is not about possession or outcome.
It is about fixation that remained respectful.
Desire that learned restraint.
Love that never demanded a return.
