After losing her father and nearly losing her life when their ship sank off the coast of Cornwall, Adelaide Hampton Parke is faced with a terrible dilemma. Her stepmother has demanded that they immediately set sail for New York but the very idea of stepping foot on board another ship and facing the uncertainty of a Transatlantic crossing leaves her paralyzed with fear. Not to mention that her relationship with her stepmother is contentious at best and she's been given only six months to return to New York and find herself a husband or be put out of the family's Park Avenue home to make her own way in the world. Salvation comes, unexpectedly, in the form of a telegram from Eldren Llewellyn a Welsh lord and the sole owner of a mining empire. He'd partnered with her father in multiple business ventures, and upon the man's death, proposed to Adelaide in order to spare her the ordeal of returning home in her stepmother's less than tender care. But as she travels to his remote estate in Snowdonia, Adelaide comes to realize that his ancestral home, Cysgod Lys, literally the Shadow Hall, is filled with secrets and dark things she cannot name. Fear is her constant companion and she begins to wonder if her new husband is her savior... or her doom. PLEASE NOTE: This work has been published at Amazon and is enrolled in Kindle Unlimited. The Withered Rose is a Victorian-era enemies-to-lovers romance that delves into the complexities of social status, reputation, and the unseen beauty that lies beneath the surface. Set in a world of grand balls and rigid societal expectations, Aurelia is a woman of noble blood whose family has fallen from grace. She is a delicate, misunderstood figure, mocked and ridiculed by those who once admired her. Lucian, a prince adored by all, sees something in her that no one else does. His offer of kindness stirs both hope and confusion in her heart. As their paths cross, they navigate the murky waters of misunderstanding, miscommunication, and internal conflict, ultimately discovering that true love blooms where one least expects it. With a theme of nature versus society, this novel explores the possibility of growth and healing, both for the heart and reputation.

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife. It is also a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man NOT in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a RICH wife. The latter is unfortunately true for William Drake, the Marquess of Pemberton. The follies of his father, The Duke of Sunderby, have caused the entire Dukedom to be on the verge of collapse. When he discovers a secret affair has left him with an unknown brother, and the Duke passes away unexpectedly, Lord Pemberton (now the new Duke of Sunderby) is pressured to find a wife sooner than expected. Only one caveat - she must be rich. Lady Georgiana, the daughter of an Earl, is fiercely independent. Her first Season came and went without much fanfare. No suitor catching her eye and with her father still alive and two healthy older brothers, she doesn't require a husband right away and is content to be in their care. That is, until she is face to face with the brooding Lord Pemberton who makes her question all her deepest desires. The only problem is that he needs to marry for fortune and not love. Will she be able to save both of their futures?

Rose is left with broken dreams, a shattered heart, and a list of things they were going to do once they married. So, she sets out to 'undo' all the things on that list by doing them backwards. Or in the opposite direction. Whichever. She is determined to prove that she can be contrary when she puts her mind to it. But this is 1870s England. Going anywhere as a young unmarried woman requires that she go with her doting, but overwhelming, family in tow. Then, while contriving to take the stage to the resort that was supposed to be her honeymoon destination, she meets Mr. Walker. When the two of them keep bumping into each other at the resort, it comes to light that they are there under similar circumstances. It only takes a short conversation for Rose to figure out their situations aren't just similar; they have a detail named Frank in common: Mr. Walker's former fiancée is going to marry the new Duke of Windham. The two wind up in several hilarious escapades as they try to help each other finish the things on their lists to spite the people who hurt them, while also trying not to get themselves into a romantic entanglement with each other. But when Mr. Walker's list is finished, will that put an end to their burgeoning friendship? Or have they stumbled upon something neither thought possible?

Adelaide couldn't resist the temptation of visiting Hatchard's. It was after all the most recognizable bookstore in the world. Unsure if you're ready to dive into the novella of the same title? Immerse yourself in the captivating side story within the novella, designed to captivate you and ignite your curiosity for more. Author's Note: Each short story comprises approximately 2,000 words. Each chapter bears the same title as the book (for instance, 'An Affair at Apsley House: A Detour in Piccadilly' is a side story within the novella 'An Affair at Apsley House'). While not essential to follow the novella's plotline, these stories offer a delightful opportunity to delve deeper into the characters' lives and personalities. Constructive criticism appreciated.
