1843 - Emily has to leave France and go live in England because she's supposed to marry Henry, a noble prince from one of the wealthiest families in Europe. The wedding is still months away, so she has to stay at his castle to "get to know him." Emily doesn't like Henry like that. He's nice, and attractive but not her kind of person. There is no excitement. No love. The first days are quite hard on Emily. She's totally alone. Then she meets Emma - Henry's sister. Emma is everything Emily isn't used to: confident, beautiful, funny, a bit rebellious... and she actually understands her. They talk for hours, read together, sneak around the castle at night... and suddenly, Emily doesn't feel so alone anymore.
