The void stretches endless, starless, silent. Suspended in that nothingness floats a cosmic chessboard - squares black as pitch and white as bone, every piece carved from souls and shadow.
Opposite each other stand the two players.
Lira rests one hand on the board's edge, the other curled around a glass of pale gold wine. Her strawberry‑blonde hair spills in waves of autumn copper down her back. Her jaw is set firm - she knows exactly what game they're playing.
Asmodeus leans forward, golden eyes fixed on the glowing white pawn marked EMMA GÖTZ. A slow, salivating grin spreads across his face.
"This one is going to be delicious," he purrs. "Rage so pure it burns. She thinks she wants justice. She doesn't realise she's starving for revenge."
Lira takes a slow sip of wine, unimpressed. "She's grieving. That's all. Pain isn't a vice."
Asmodeus lets out a low, dirty laugh that rumbles through the void like a predator tasting meat.
"Isn't it? Watch closely, little halo. By the time I'm done with her... she'll burn the world down and call it righteousness."
He taps one long finger against the pawn.
"Tonight's soul is on the line. And I am going to prove that there is no such thing as righteous rage. Only rage. And it belongs to me."
