Inside this book is a compilation of stories based on the Holocaust. Most are only a chapter long, and are individual stories in themselves. I may decide to write a longer Holocaust story, and if I do, it will be specified as so. These are all works of fiction, but are loosely based on real events. Some may be graphic, viewer discretion advised. So enter the Holocaust, and never forget.

January 1945. Western Poland. Three very different people are at the start of their individual, life-changing journeys. Anja Köhler, the daughter of a high-ranking Nazi official and proud German citizen, is slightly apprehensive about moving to Finland with her family. Blind to the true situation of a now-crumbling Germany, she doesn't quite understand the reasons behind why they're leaving in the first place. Leib Abramovich, an unofficially-declared Jewish orphan living under the alias Adolf Eilert, nervously counts the seconds between now and the long road to freedom in neutral Sweden. Traveling alone by train, he is full of worry as to what his fate may be if his fellow passengers find out who he truly is. Józef Drzyzga, the revenge-driven son of a once-prestigious Polish politician, tentatively works to destroy Germany's lifeline of supplies in hopes of winning his country back once and for all. He's been tightly held under Germany's grasp for long enough, and without his sacrifice, he knows that the chances of seeing his family again are very slim. Three different people, Three different perspectives, Three different stories. One accident pulls them all together.

For Kerza Freiborne, the war began with fire and ended in ice. But Ally bombs and a march through frozen fields did not come first: the war had a precursor that brought it to her doorstep in the shape of hunched shoulders, dirt-smudged cheeks and a gold star sewn to the breast of a sweater. A fugitive Jew in the heart of Nazi Germany is not a thing that can be simply swept beneath a rug, and thusly, it is the attic of Kerza's family in which the traumatized, stammering boy must take shelter. With the battlefield drawing closer and a country's old prejudice reaching a boiling point, the line between us and them is blurred and the duplicity of human nature becomes clearer every day. But for better or worse, this Jew and German are the most important people in each others lives, and everything they thought they understood of their world will soon change forever.

In 1933 Germany, Adeline Sommer and Esther Goldberg are the best of friends. One little problem though- Esther is Jewish. Adeline doesn't care, but it seems as if the rest of the world does. It soon becomes apparent that Berlin is no longer safe for Esther, and that their friendship is actually endangering Adeline's life. As if fighting for their friendship wasn't hard enough already, it seems nearly impossible when a protective Nazi officer enters the scene. He'll do anything to keep Adeline safe, and that means either destroying her friendship with Esther or putting his own life on the line. ••• {This book is historical fiction. Opened in 1940, Auschwitz-Birkenau was a complex of over forty concentration and extermination camps operated by Nazi Germany, and was the largest of its kind. The complex was active for roughly five years and ended the lives of over 1.1 million prisoners. This was for school, and I haven't been marked for it, but I think it's good.
