"You fight like you're trying to run from something," Nerissa teased, spinning away then circling closer again, like a raven circling its prize. "Or someone."
"I fight to fulfill my oath," Kronii bit out, though her breath caught when Nerissa suddenly dropped her stance, bowing low and slow, gaze dark and heated as she looked up from beneath her lashes... soft, yielding, completely devoted for just a heartbeat, before rising again with that wicked smile. "You are an interference. Nothing more."
"Mmhmm. Keep telling yourself that." Nerissa caught Kronii's wrist mid-strike, her grip firm yet her thumb brushing gently over her pulse point. "If I was truly nothing, you wouldn't be putting so much effort into keeping me away. Wouldn't be holding back so much of yourself, just so I don't see how badly you want to let go."
Kronii pulled free, turning her back for only a second to steady her breathing, hating that Nerissa saw right through that commanding mask, hating that the thought of submitting, of letting someone else take the lead for once, made her knees feel weak instead of afraid. "I am Time itself. I decide what stays, and what is cast aside."
"Then decide to keep me," Nerissa purred, stepping right into her space again, unbothered by the cold glare sent her way. "Or try to run. I promise you-I will chase you through every second, every lifetime, every end of the world until you finally admit I've already caught you..."
