They looked at him like he was nothing. A dog with not a bit of bark nor a scrap of bite. The feral at the pound set to be put down at dusk. His strength was inconsequential, his wit insignificant. A mutt such as he had no place in their ranks. For lesser followed his name. He was an heir. One of two. The one destined to die at the hands of his depraved brother. As the second born, Jackson knew he would never lead the clan. It was his place to receive the death of a challenger once his elder brother inherited the title of Alpha. But he didn't mind. He would die as he lived. Gratefully. That's what he thought, at least... Until he found her. A sick little human, hidden away from the world. He stumbled upon her, and discovered refuge in her peace. She was an innocent relief from his life of violence and death. A beautiful light in his darkness. And he began to think, Maybe death wasn't his destiny after all. *** Updates every Sunday DISCLAIMER: There is violence and mentions of some heavy topics in this story, there will be no trigger warnings. This is also a first draft, it will be rewritten upon completion. Please show pity on the poorly written moments.
