Every life has its quiet horrors. For Shi, it isn't the weight of broken dreams, the relentless pressure of a world moving too fast, or the cold agony of being forgotten. It's the presence that stands beside her. Shi cannot remember the first time She appeared. As far back as her memory stretches, the lonely evenings, and the silent rooms where she thought she had been abandoned again, that wandering, nameless soul was already there. To the rest of the world, Shi is just another ordinary girl navigating a quiet, challenging life. But in the space between her heartbeat and her shadow, there is a second pulse. She claims she is only trying to help. Yet every time the ghost reaches into Shi's reality, every time it attempts to untangle Shi's misfortunes, the threads snap. The soul never leaves Shi's side, choosing her out of billions, bound to her like an unforgivable sentence. And yet... Shi does not fear her. Not anymore. When the darkness closes in and the human world turns its back, the ghost is the only constant. A sister born of static and whispers. An unwelcome companion, yet an eternal anchor. But a dark, suffocating mystery festers at the edges of their bond. The longer Shi stares into the void of the ghost's featureless presence, the clearer the horrifying truth becomes. The shape of the soul's face, the fragile curve of its eyes, they are matching Shi's. Feature by feature, shadow by shadow. Looking at Her is no longer like looking at a specter; it is like staring into a twisted, cracked mirror that stares back with desperate hunger. A nameless soul, haunting a living girl, seeking a taste of joy through a life that isn't hers. Why did a wandering soul choose a completely ordinary girl out of a world filled with billions? Is the ghost trying to save Shi... or is she slowly stealing the life Shi is trying so hard to build? And when Shi looks into the ghost's eyes and sees her own face staring back... who is the haunt, and who is the echo?

Short Stories of Hwa Xiu Academy Daughters of Shared Pinafores Series This is a companion collection to the main story. While the primary book follows the slow daily life of six girls in their first weeks at Hwa Xiu Academy, this volume gathers short stories that explore other parts of life inside the academy - moments the main timeline has not yet reached. From school excursions and special events to quiet rituals, unexpected challenges, and tender sisterhood moments, each story stands on its own while staying true to the academy's strict shared uniform system, powdering routines, graceful marching, and the slow transformation that turns discomfort into deep belonging. Some stories run alongside the main timeline. Others take gentle alternate paths. All remain honest about the difficulties and warm about the bonds that form through shared starched uniforms, layered scents, and everyday hardships. A quiet tribute to Hwa Xiu Academy - where discipline shapes grace, and shared burdens become unbreakable sisterhood. Best read together with the main story "Daughters of Shared Pinafores".

I wrote this poem in 1987 during the time of the Ethiopian famine. Last year I changed a couple lines, and this is my updated version. When I first wrote this poem I was only 18 years old and hadn't had children yet. Now after nursing 7 children, I realize the mother in the poem was also dying because she didn't have enough calories herself to produce breast milk for her baby. This collection of poems/stories deals with world wide issues and life struggles. I have poems or stories on most of these subjects, but just gradually publishing them. I usually write poems that other readers might relate to, but I realize that some material will be sensitive to some readers. Please note: not trying to offend anyone.
