As a freshman in college, I wrote this piece in 1998. Inspired by a children's book that I loved to read as a child ("If You Call My Name" by Crescent Dragonwagon). Using imagery, it describes how love truly exists and takes many forms. It is strong enough to make one believe that they can be anything, as long as they still have that love. It also touches upon the vows one would take when they commit their love and life to the other....and the understanding that one would go wherever the other goes, no matter what, where, or why. I have never personally experienced this type of love with another; however, I still believe it exists. In this expansive world of over 8 billion people, there are still some fortunate souls who are lucky enough to find their true counterpart, even when barriers come between them.
