A young artist has just dropped out of school, convinced by her teachers that her art has no value. A young man has accidentally stopped taking the antipsychotic medication he was prescribed as a child to keep him from seeing shadows, hearing voices, and waking in the middle of the night tormented by night terrors. Depression, visions... do they come from a troubled mind, or from somewhere else entirely? A simple coincidence becomes the starting point of an adventure that will forever change the life of our protagonist, as he begins to discover what he is truly capable of.

And eventually... a boy whose past is locked behind unspoken truths. Maaya doesn't know it yet, but beneath the normal days and quiet evenings, the town hides something deeper. Excerpt from Fated, summary in the works: "The Grim Reaper had lost his hold on humanity. People still died of course. Humans were still their squishy fragile selves. They stepped wrong and fell down stairs to their death or coughed and died in those hospitals they claimed could save them. Immorality was nothing but an unachievable dream to them. And yet, when they died they no longer came to him. Where they went still evaded him, no matter how many he sent to investigate and worse sometimes they wouldn't even come back likely caught by whatever was doing it. So with each passing of a life, the Grim Reaper became more desperate to retain his power and more consumed by his obsession with death. That was why the child had been so important. She could've fixed it all. She could've regained his control and not only that, she could've sent them all down prematurely. Because while he wasn't allowed to interfere with the lives of mortals unless they called for him or came through his domain on one of those silly quests which used to be so popular, she could have. Damn that child. Damn that dog. "

Complete. ONC 2021 entry. ONC Longlist and a Round II Ambassador's Pick! Exclusive to Wattpad. Ulthar is a cozy, sleepy town in the Dreamlands, close to the River Skai. It is a cobblestoned, gable-roofed town of pumpkin patches and a sizable population of cats. The only law is that you must never harm a cat, but the town is quiet and peaceful. Cats, humans, fish-people, and cosmic horrors live in unity. And really, the horrors are quite pleasant. Fourteen-year-old Eileen, who escaped the waking world, helps out at the chocolate shop and lives with her inventive adoptive mother, Cecilia Haunt. Besides the occasional cat, zoog, or animate pumpkin snatching the wares away, all is well. That is, until a mysterious eye statue appears in Ulthar. Every night, it moves to a different location. It's the sign of the Great Ones, who long ago left the dark palace of Kadath and went to the sunset city. Listless and hurt over the past, and desperate for an adventure to give herself a purpose, Eileen asserts that this is her chance to make a name for herself at the risk of her own safety and identity. Over the Garden Wall + H.P. Lovecraft's Dream Cycle.
