Chapter 1 in a horror fantasy series I decided to work on and make art for impulsively. Well see how much I actually work on it

All of these characters reside in the town of Wamego, Kansas. They're 9th graders at Wamego High School. Scarlet, Eli, and Drew met during middle school and found a bond by being at the bottom of the social ladder. They always have lunch together and are constantly at eachother's houses after school. The story begins halfway through their 9th grade year, and the trio is closer than ever. They are learning to navigate a new school and their own lives and identities when they are confronted with a mysterious death. (Possible spoilers in TW/Tags) !!!TW!!! There are several painful/stressful deaths implied and one shown and described. There is no real blood but there is a substance with a resemblance to blood. There are also some implication of abuse/trauma/bullying! Be careful if any of this triggers you and if see something that could trigger someone I didn't mention tell me! My writing can be pretty dark, and I want to make sure everyone reading my work is safe!

In the night of lanterns, where people celebrated the birth of their god, blood splattered. Screams of agony covered the whole empire and Addie trembled in fear to see savage bloodthirsty creatures running around sucking blood out of every person she lay her eyes upon. Her body froze in shock that she didn't have the time to react, nor even scream for the sudden appearance of the legendary netherans- monsters that they never thought existed. All Addie remembered was her being unconscious. And the fear that she saw on the eyes of the imperial army pointing their spears at her with contempt and disgust. Before them spread thick threads of blood that sprouted on her back devouring the life out of the netherans that attacked the empire. "Are you an enemy to the empire?!" Addie doesn't know how to answer that, for she doesn't know what she has become.
