"To be known the way you should is to put yourself through hell"
While everything evaporates for salvation, weighted chains bind an unfortunate pair. Chains broken by a key one of them hides. Regardless, love is a potent painkiller against the dagger's shards of betrayal. So life seems bearable and sacrificing others, with what remains of your own dignity, sounds tolerable. Comfort is satiable when you know two rights don't make a wrong.
Until they do.
And when that time comes, only Doom can blame you for throwing a hand to the void of corpses above you.

Girl wakes up to a religious regime taking over West Virginia. Unsure of how, or who put her there, she tries to settle into her new world. All while juggling: the crippling pain of alienation, becoming someone she doesn't recognise, and a mysterious someone blackmailing her with the past she refuses to face. Ultimately, she burdens a family of two boys, and a deceased mother, with her emotional weight. What a terrible mistake.
TL;DR: Girl's mommy issues kills everyone.
