Just a short creepy story that popped into my head a few nights ago. Enjoy! I've marked it as completed but I'm considering making it into a much longer piece. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. **UPDATE** I've decided to try and make a longer story out of this and I've set myself a 300 word target everyday. Vulnerability isn't always a bad thing, but for a child, it is dangerous...

There's a problem that I need to get away from and I just inherited a distant relative's old house. The place is in a small town in the middle of nowhere, which is a huge change for me. It needs a lot work and will offer me the perfect opportunity to help me forget my issues. The only trouble may be the mirror. It gives me this odd feeling. But if I can forget about it and concentrate on fixing up the place, maybe I can get my new beginning. have you ever wanted to read a really short horror story about a person going insane without jumpscares and monsters? well, here it is!

John's husband, Gary, wanted to get out of the city. He wanted to be a homeowner, to live the good life in the countryside, away from the hustle and bustle, and somehow, he talked John into it. For Gary, everything is perfect. For John, not so much. And things go from bad to worse when, one morning, John is awoken by sounds in the driveway. Why did the neighbours warn him about strange things happening in the mountains? Who left him a note telling him not to make noise at night? And who, or what, is moving around in the garden when the sun goes down? This short story was inspired by the horror stories the author has read about the Appalachian mountains, and by the existential dread of modern life. Hope you enjoy!

A compilation of short stories I've written. They range in tone and genre, but I enjoy writing horror / generally unnerving works. They're not that creepy, I don't believe, but I try. Criticism is appreciated, as I am quite new to writing seriously. The cover is a WIP.
