This year, I am a high school senior. It's currently Summer break and, seeing as I have little else to do, I thought it may be helpful to write a sort of informational guide for all of the Wattpad teens preparing to enter or just beginning their journey through the four-year cesspool of teenage emotion and school-related stress-- otherwise known as high school. There are many things I wish I'd known about this whole "high school" thing as I entered it-- so please take advantage of this and learn from my mistakes and lack of high school-related knowledge so that you can succeed!

You can do away with the outdated guides - this one is for the Wattpad of 2021. I answer questions like: What is the recommended length for a blurb? Does my cover pass the thumbnail test? Drabbles: Use only 100 words, and tell us a story. That's the challenge, if you choose to accept it. Don't waste words, and use no more and no less than precisely one hundred words. Go! (You'll find mine in the pages that follow) Dabbles: Every so often I deviate from writing what I should be to writing about other things wafting through my mind. I suppose you could call these short stories. Find them in here too.

You are an author on Wattpad, and your story is really taking off. You have votes, comments, supportive readers, and high hopes for your book. Then, out of nowhere, it appears. From its horrifying reputation to its proven malice, you know exactly what's coming. Dripping fangs, piercing eyes, and everything that keeps you from a decent night's sleep. You toss, you turn, you think about it all the time, and you brace yourself for the worst possible scenario. Writer's Block ==================================== A/N (please read): I am not a professional/successful writer. I have little experience. I'm still a teen, for crying out loud. This book is for my reference mostly, but if my fellow authors need help or advice, it is available to the Wattpad community. It is my goal to grow as a writer and help others do the same :) Thanks again for reading! I hope these tips help you out!

This is quite based on MY school, so it may differ to what you experience. Surviving High school/Secondary school is no different to surviving a jungle or the arctic. You need the right skills and experience (which is ironic). So here's a how-to guide....

In February of 2017 I had the great pleasure of addressing the Grant MacEwan University English Department with a keynote speech titled "Your Voice is Valid." This speech was all about Mary Sues, fandom, and marginalized voices, and is a direct response to the negative reactions that media texts receive when they announce a protagonist that is deemed to be a "Mary Sue". In the intervening years I think the message of my talk has become even more vital to creators, so I thought I'd record a new video of the speech to share with a wider audience. I had the great fortune of being able to publish the text in it's entirety in issue one of Blanket Magazine (http://blanketmagazine.blogspot.com/), and I read my text from this book.
