One mistake is all it takes for Snotlout Jorgenson to begin falling apart. After a disastrous training mission leaves him humiliated, he becomes convinced that he has finally proven what everyone has secretly believed all along: that he is the weakest rider on the team, the one who always messes everything up, and the one who simply does not belong.
Certain that his friends are only moments away from sending him back to Berk, Snotlout makes the decision for them. Before anyone can cast him aside, he leaves Dragon's Edge on his own, believing it will hurt less if he walks away first.
But distance cannot silence the relentless voice in his head. Every lonely moment feeds his self-doubt, every memory twists into proof that he was never good enough, and every passing day convinces him that maybe everyone is better off without him. As guilt, fear, and old insecurities threaten to consume him, Snotlout finds himself questioning everything he thought he knew about his friends, his worth, and the place he has fought so hard to earn.
Meanwhile, the Dragon Riders refuse to believe he left because he simply wanted to. As they search for their missing teammate, they begin to realize that Snotlout's biggest battle has never been against dragons or enemies. It has always been against the cruel thoughts telling him he will never be enough.
Sometimes the hardest person to save is the one who has already given up on himself.
