Astrid comes to Berk with her tribe after they were almost wipped out by dragons seeking protection only to find Berk covered with dragons. Astrid refuses to stay on Berk, but with a bit of convincing from her childhood friend and the handsome young chief Hiccup, she agrees to stay. Eventually Astrid finds herself slowly falling in love with Hiccup as he shows her that the dragons she thought were monsters, were never creatures who brought terror and destruction but lifelong friends who will be at your side no matter what.

Lei the Skrill had lived happily without worry her whole life before she was encased in ice by her family in hopes of keeping her safe from humans. They know that time and again, they've risked their own lives and each other's lives in order to do what's right and protect their dragons and all the dragons in the world. They felt invincible having just defeated Viggo and his dragon hunter armada. The bonds of near-death experiences brought them closer together, and they gained new friends and enemies. At a time when things are looking like they couldn't BE anywhere but up, the dragon riders unexpectedly found themselves heading in any direction BUT up. They soon find that life isn't going to get any easier, and they get thrown into a life they never expected. Now it's all up to them to unite together and stay together in order to salvage their lives and friendships.

Once there was a young girl who grew up with the ways of the dragons. She learned their language, their ways of life with no human contact whatsoever until one day, she meets a boy who turned her whole life upside down. Many months later she is captured by Drago during a prison break but she meets a group of dragon riders from Berk and joins them to help take Drago down.
