Dusk doesn't expect her name to be pulled at her first reaping. But it is. She'd been told by many people that it was extremely rare for a twelve year old's name to be drawn, with it only being in there once. The odds were supposed to be in her favor, but they weren't. Now she has to face the reality that she most likely won't make it home.

~A Hunger Games Fanfiction~ (I wrote this story almost 7 years ago at 14. I haven't gone back and edited anything - don't plan to - but I just republished this story for funsies since I recently rediscovered my wattpad account after the new hunger games book about haymitch came out. Her only friend was her older sister, and her parents were hardly around. When the first Quarter Quell made its appearance, all district citizens of Panem were instructed to elect a fellow tribute of their district to enter the deadly arena. Reaping Day arrived; terror wrapped its relentless tentacles around Harper as she noticed more and more smirks and sly grins being passed her way before the election. Unfortunately for her, it didn't take long for her to realize why.

Three years after the Second Quarter Quell, excitement in the Capitol for the Hunger Games is at an all time high, but this flame mustn't die out if the Games are to continue. This can only be trouble for Dahlia, who has bigger dreams than the Victor's Village of District Nine where she lives with her mother; one of the disappointing few Victors of the district. Though Dahlia doesn't believe her name is even in the draw, perhaps she shouldn't be so sure... While the Games are going on, however, there's a few questions that none of the tributes can put out of their minds. Why were they being pitted against each other? Whose sick form of entertainment was this? And if it wasn't for entertainment, then what WAS it for...?

Peeta Mellark didn't swallow the berries, so Katniss Everdeen died in the arena. 26 years has passed, and the fourth quarter quell has arrived. There will be 9 games total. The first 8 will contain one tribute from each district; four of these games will consist of males, the other four of females.
