A 200 IM that makes coaches cry. Ruth Wang has spent four years pretending she's not terrified of it. They've survived high school. They've survived Stoneman Douglas. They've survived the pressure of FHSAA States and the chaos of TS Aquatics practice. But when a Category 3 hurricane traps them in a flooded Naples rental, the real test begins. The water is rising. The gators are closing in. And Ruth can't swim.

"Amidst the Chaos" is a poem about someone feeling lost and overwhelmed by academic pressure, emotional challenges, and an impending hurricane. Despite these hardships, they hold onto hope, dreaming of success in their exams, becoming a nurse, and providing for their family. The poem also touches on the pain of unrequited love and the resolve to move forward and start a new chapter.

I'm an ordinary girl. At least, I'd like to consider myself one. I keep my grades along the range of B's. I'm not necessarily popular. My mother is a doctor, which brings our monthly income up through the roof. Sadly though, all great things must come to an end. One miserable day, mother was considered guilty for robbery of a high paycheck of one of her fellow workers. She was fired, and, like that, father developed his drinking and spending habit. We were soon kicked out of our huge mansion down in Tampa due to not being able to afford the monthly payment. That's where it all began. My depression. My thirteen year old brother didn't understand anything. Those cuts, bruises, and scars were a habit. A bad one that I would never stop.

I looked towards the hill ahead of us, drenched in both the hole water and my own cold sweat. My hands shook on my thighs. I hate this. I hate the stupid man who caused this. I hate that I'm not with Lucas right now. Lucas! Shit. "Grandpa! We have to go back! I promised him!" "Are you crazy? The water is going to come back any time now we have to get to the top of this hill!" He yelled back at me. "No! I have to! Let me out!" I screamed. I screamed at him with all my might. He kept driving. I turned back straight in my seat and glanced at the buckled "door" of the side by side and glanced back at my grandfather. After a few seconds of hard contemplation, I ripped my seatbelt off, unbuckled the door and jumped. The world had been normal. Things were actually going good for Zoey. She was top of her class with the school year slowly coming to an end. But there was something that caused everything to go into a spiral. A crack in the earth's surface caused lakes and rivers across the United States to aggressively run through towns and cities. Wiping out millions of cars, houses and people. Family, friends, strangers. Killed. And worst of all? The crack in the Earth created a large hole deep into the ground that shoots water comparable to a hurricane every hour for thirty minutes. And Zoey's only half a mile away.

Reminiscing is a heart-wrenching story about two best friends Alex and Maddie who never admitted their feelings for each other, parted ways after high school, molding Maddie to be a prominent actress of their era and Alex to be a jobless playboy, dreary and resentful searching for Maddie, leading Alex to find a job and accidentally discovers a time machine, until he realizes he had time travelled back to high school with a chance to change everything but when he goes back to the present, he sees their lives slipping away facing the reality of life.
