Merlin and Arthur have been together for a few years. Two years ago after Arthur was crowned King he lifted the ban on Magic. While Merlin was happy he didn't tell anyone about his magic. Now two years later he spent a week with his mother in Ealdor. He sends a letter to Morgana with one for Arthur. Telling them that Emrys was coming to court the same day Merlin was coming home.

Set directly after Merlin is accused and arrested for poisoning the king. What if Merlin doesn't forgive them? The knights, realizing how badly they screwed up, try to make things right- but after everything, it may be too late for simple apologies. (Also Elyan is still alive in this version) (I always hated how it was all just brushed over and how the knights suffered to repercussions for not standing up for or even visiting Merlin while locked away- and all without even apologizing after.)

"Merlin!" a voice rang out into the distance. "Merlin!" it repeated again, the distressed tone only increasing each time. Arthur had repeated his manservant's name several times now and so far, he'd gotten no results. Safe to say, he was worrying his princely socks off. He firmly shook Merlin's shoulder, begging for him to wake up on the inside, but on the outside, he was just shouting his name. "Merlin!" he yelled for the tenth time, the man who lay in front of him not responding. 'Well, of course he wouldn't,' the back of Arthur's mind told him. 'He's fallen off a cliff for God's sake.' OR Merlin falls off a cliff and Arthur learns that it's not the first time this has happened. So, Merlin tells Arthur a tale from when he was a boy.

While on a camping trip, Merlin was obviously exhausted as he'd been acting strange all day. As he falls asleep, Gwaine finds a small leather bound journal hidden away in the servants coat, which he soon learns is a journal. He reads a few to himself, then to the Knights. They all soon realize how sad and how seemingly alone Merlin believes he is. They all realize, just how little they know about Merlin. [Hint: The Knights and Arthur learn about Freya!]

When Gaius becomes in charge of the Glee club, Merlin wants to join but his mother doesn't want him to because she is afraid his magic will be discovered. Merlin disobeys, and joins anyway. Arthur wants to concentrate on football and his relationship with Gwen. But he becomes entranced by Merlin and realizes he is hiding a dangerous secret. So Arthur joins Glee to become closer to Merlin and try to save him from his secret. Will Arthur discover the past haunting Merlin before it is too late to save Merlin? Unbeknownst to his friends Merlin struggles with a dark secret as his past catches up to him. Arthur isn't as blind as Merlin likes to make him out to be. He notices things, even if it doesn't seem like it. When Merlin causes the rockslide to save Arthur, Arthur has no doubts that Merlin is good regardless of the magic. However, his new outlook is tested when Merlin starts acting strange upon after he is found wandering in the forest.

AU: Merlin was captured by King Cenred and his men after seen doing magic in his village. But after weeks in captivity he flees from their prison under the cover of darkness. Sequel to More Gained, None Lost. Merlin has been rescued from Morgana's clutches but the recovery process will be long, and it's not just Merlin's physical state that needs time to recover.
