I took a deep breath. "I know you know," I said. My voice was barely a whisper. The words felt huge in the quiet room. Luca tilted his head. "Know what, Iris?" His eyes searched my face. "My crush," I said. My face burned. "On you." My stomach dropped. The words hung in the air. I didn't even try to lie. There was no point. He had seen it. He had always known. But saying it out loud it burned. I stayed still. My eyes stung. ************ He broke her heart once. This time, he'll destroy anyone who tries to break hers. At twenty-two, Iris Darlington finally has her life moving in the right direction. A dream job. Amazing friends. A future she built without anyone's help. Especially not Luca Whitmore. The man who shattered her teenage heart. The man she's spent years trying to forget. But avoiding Luca becomes impossible when fate throws them back into each other's lives. Because Luca isn't the same man she remembers. He's colder. More powerful. More dangerous. And the way he looks at her now makes it clear that forgetting her was never an option. As old feelings ignite and buried secrets come to light, Iris finds herself caught between the life she's worked so hard to build and the man who could tear down every wall around her heart. A random thing for a little project, ignore this because I do not want my crappy rushed drawings exposed and I hate writing when I'm tired because I make a description like this. This is so I can share drawings and character designs with a friend for a book we're woking on.

Part 1 of my "Heartfelt Series" a series full of short stories that may or may not exceed chapter 1 Unloving You is easier said than done. I thought loving you from a far is enough, but enough is enough.

This fanfiction plays around 2012/2013. The Manchester duo Hurts play one of their last gigs of the Happiness tour when a certain woman in the audience changes everything. Some sort of dramatic romcom, if that makes sense. It's also an appreciation for their album 'Exile'. I decided to write in English even though it's not my mother language. A few years ago I started to write this story. At some point I still had ideas in my head but I just didn't feel like I could write them down in the way I wanted to so I took a very long break. But at the beginning of this year I re-read my story and suddenly it clicked. Out of nowhere I scribbled down a few notes and soon finished a few chapters. The thing that blew my tiny mind the most was the fact, that I used words, phrases, topics back then that later became topics of the following Hurts records. I felt strangely more connected to them than ever and it was easier now to articulate my old ideas. Stay save everybody, take care! X
