Akemi survived a Virus that killed everyone over the age of 13. She was hiding in a closet for one year and is nearly dead, half starved is she found by the Japanese Imperial Army. Surprisingly Lieutenant Colonel Guren Ichinose, the cold harded jerk, how Akemi likes to call him when she is older, volunteered to raise Akemi and train her to be a Vampire killing death machine.
