After being drafted 22nd overall in the NHL draft he finds himself attending his third year of university before signing an NHL contract. When Rosalie is hired by Yale University to be an ASL interpreter she is assigned to interpret for Carter because of her background with hockey and business classes. The unlikely pair form a relationship that slowly goes past purely professional as they find their way through each other's worlds.
