One day, Jellal had made a plan to escape, everyone followed through but they was still caught. Emma and Erza took the blame, and they was badly tortured. But soon Jellal freed the two and they took him for their replacement. After all that, Jellal had suddenly turned evil, and somehow, Erza and Emma escaped and found their way to fairytail.
