Zero and Kaname have been married for 900 years, they found out one day at their personal doctor's office that since Zero isn't a pure blood, he will die in the next hundred years. Unless, two things happened. One, a potion will have to be made from the rarest(sometimes even most random, depending on the 'version') ingredients. Or two, one of the lovers will have to become pregnant. If that is what it's supposed to happen in order to keep Zero alive, then to Kaname, so be it.
