In an attempt to further the limits of genetic engineering, Dr. Henry Wu secretly created two advanced hybrids on Isla Nublar, Specimen 721 and Specimen 589, also known as Ven. Unlike his previous creations, 721 and Ven were designed with an ability to take on human form, granting them a unique intelligence and adaptability that set them apart from other dinosaurs. However, fearing their unpredictability, Dr. Wu locked them in a freezing containment room deep in the labs of Isla Nublar, keeping them in a deep, unconscious state where their development and memories were held at bay. Years passed, and with the world growing increasingly interested in understanding and controlling hybrid dinosaurs, Dr. Wu devised a new "field test." Rather than releasing these hybrids in their dinosaur forms, he would test their human identities and social adaptability by sending them as undercover "campers" to Camp Cretaceous. For Dr. Wu, this would reveal if his hybrids could function in a human environment or if their animalistic instincts would break through the facade. Upon their release from stasis, 721 and Ven awoke in a daze, the effects of the freezing containment still clouding their minds. They barely understood their human forms or the memories of containment, only that they had a mission to complete. Dr. Wu gave them strict instructions: blend in with the other campers, participate in activities, and most importantly, remain under control. With little choice, 721 and Ven were dropped off to Camp Cretaceous, where they were introduced to the unsuspecting group of human teens.
