Damien Mesa once had an aunt. She was kind, pleasant, and loved him very much. But once an event of sheer chance occurs, Damien is forbidden from seeing his aunt ever again by his mother, for reasons he wouldn't understand until he was older. All he knew, was that his aunt was lucky enough to be selected as the heir to a mysterious mansion known as Flood Manor...and part of him wished he could live there too.
More than a decade later, Damien is hit again with a sudden moment of chance. His aunt, after being separated from the family for so long, calls him and beckons him to live with her. She tells him that she is sick, and feels that only he can help her get better again. Unable to do so by himself due to complications in his own health, but beckoned by his aunt's doctor to move in with her, the whole family moves to Flood Manor to watch over their once-estranged relative.
With a begrudging mother and his close and loved sister, Damien tries to acclimate to life in an extravagant and beautiful mansion. But with the house in slight disrepair, Damien can only feel unwelcome in the dark and frightening Flood Manor, where there are rooms that make no sense and fixtures that have no apparent utility where they are placed. Why did his aunt get this strange and mysterious home? Who was the previous owner, the now deceased Master Flood, and what had they hidden in their home? Why does Damien's mother hate his aunt, and why has his aunt begun to lose her mind?
And finally, why does Damien feel that he's the reason for it all?
A work-in-progress horror story that will be delivered in first drafts, due to later intent of full publication. This is posted here for feedback, and to gather interest in a hopefully exciting Horror/Thriller that will make you afraid of your own House for the Soul.
