Hope Grace is complex, and has a difficult life. Her father is dead, and her mother is weak. Her, and little brother Hunter, surround themselves inside each other, because they have no one else to turn to. Before, she was not depressed, but had a lot of criticism as being a girl football player at her high school. One night driving home from a big game, she blacks out, and her life is never the same again. After, she needs someone to dig her out of a depressing hole she's in. In her journey, she finds people to help her with that, between the people at her library activity club her mother forces her to go to twice a week, and people at her therapy/consoling building, including her future boyfriend, David, and her future friend, samantha.
