Being an African American, slavery rings a cord with me. I can't fathom what my ancestors went through. Even the segregation people felt 50 years ago is mind boggling to me. I can't recall the film, but I watched a movie where the slaves were singing, "follow the drinking gourd." I felt a wave of emotion and quickly began to write a story about it. This is the end result.

1963. A year full of misery for the oppressed and segregated blacks. This short story follows one man as he takes part in one of the most symbolic events in all of American history, in a hopeful attempt to finally achieve equality. Originally written for The Queen's Commonwealth Essay Competition 2016, but modified from the original, which had to be shortened for word count. Please do not copy this story.

The full "I Have a Dream" speech. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm sure you've heard of MLK's legendary speech, but have you actually ever read the words? Have you ever sat down and absorbed the full meaning of the speech? I decided to post this in honor of MLK day, so that everyone can hear and read this. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ANY and ALL hate comments WILL BE DELETED. I don't regret posting this. I won't take it down because a few racists decide to harass me.

This is a speech dedicated to myself and my career I want others to see how good of a writer I can be and will be I didn't know about posting this but one of my friends insisted.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., graduated from Morehouse College (B.A., 1948), Crozer Theological Seminary (B.D., 1951), and Boston University (Ph.D., 1955). The son of the pastor of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, King was ordained in 1947 and became (1954) minister of a Baptist church in Montgomery, Ala. He led the black boycott (1955-56) of segregated city bus lines and in 1956 gained a major victory and prestige as a civil-rights leader when Montgomery buses began to operate on a desegregated basis. King organized the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), which gave him a base to pursue further civil-rights activities, first in the South and later nationwide. His philosophy of nonviolent resistance led to his arrest on numerous occasions in the 1950s and 60s. His campaigns had mixed success, but the protest he led in Birmingham, Ala., in 1963 brought him worldwide.

A different stories by people's dream. Well, I'm not saying that it is based from a true story but I would love to take this opportunity in order to give people encouragement, strength, to believe in their dreams. So, I would love to dedicate this stories for those who lost faith, who feel hopeless, helpless.

Couldn't it show you, what you will have if you do your best? And maybe it can't change the reality, but it could change your thought process. It can matter if you make it matter!

I have a dream that someday I hope can be a reality... I want to be a singer... So as a starter I'm gonna share some of my songs with you guys to see what you think...
