After a mission went completely wrong, Maya takes the blame for her team, although it wasn't her fault at all. Someone sabotaged the mission from within the IMF, but Maya had no choice but go rogue / underground. Trained by Ethan Hunt who also was part of the failed mission, she knows how to use her skills to survive after the IMF disavowed her. Ethan tried to reinstate her and clear her, but to no avail.
