In the year 2036, New York is no longer the symbol of hope it once was - it's a city drowning in fear, smoke, and suspicion. Superhumans, once hailed as humanity's evolution, have become the face of terror. After a devastating terrorist explosion led by SCT-YYN, the world has never been the same. Kayan, a quiet immigrant from the Middle East, is just trying to survive. Haunted by his past and hated for where he comes from, he finds himself caught in the cracks of a society that no longer trusts anyone - especially people like him. As terrorist attacks spread across nations and the line between good and evil fades, Kayan begins to question everything: his identity, his safety, and even the nature of power itself. In a world where superpowers lead to madness and justice is dictated by fear, what happens to the ones who have nothing - and yet carry everything inside them?

The story of two women from different generations of South Indian diaspora. The first is a young woman today, but the second is her mother, a nurse and homemaker, strong, stubborn, very religious and very traditional. The story focuses on these characters as they come to terms with the fact that they are in fact members of a cult which has fundamentally isolated them and trapped them in their current lives. It explores the different ways they accept this and deal with it, how it affects their relationship with each other, their faith, and how they rebuild.

Grappling with the complex inheritance of patriarchy, written in a series of poems when visiting my homeland in 2024. I wrote them to figure out who I am, how I can belong and simultaneously not belong to an old world and deep roots... and how (walking among the ancient ruins and then the advertising-strewn streets) I can choose my own inheritance.

Snowstorms, lab coats, and late-night heartache-Toronto wasn't in Avani Rao's five-year plan, but it might just rewrite her life. With eyes full of hope and suitcases packed with dreams, Avani thinks mitochondria will be her toughest challenge-until she lands in a condo run by two chaotic roommates, a city that warms up slow, and a Tinder match who melts her resolve. Between explosive experiments, homesickness, and dreams, Avani must decide what "home" really means. Is it the family photo taped to her desk, the flutter in her stomach when coder-roommate Josh offers a coffee tour, or the independence she's craved since forever? Follow Avani as she trades monsoons for snowstorms, discovers the chemistry that textbooks never cover, and learns that sometimes the greatest experiment is life itself.

Everyone saw the dream. No one saw the cost. This is not just a story about working abroad. It's about what happens after the plane lands. About the aching silence of hospital shifts, the goodbyes said through video calls, and the grief that doesn't wait for permission to arrive. Told through the eyes of a Filipino nurse in the UK, The Other Side of the Dream is a raw, intimate journey of love, loss, burnout, faith, and healing. From the heartbreak of watching her father's last breath through a screen to the quiet breakdowns between promotions, AJ Gabriel writes with the kind of honesty that doesn't scream-but stays. Each chapter is a letter. A prayer. A confession. And woven through every page is music-songs that carried her when words failed. This book is for every OFW who smiled while silently falling apart. For every daughter who left to build a future and lost parts of herself along the way. For every nurse who gave everything and finally learned to choose herself, too. This is the story of the strength no one sees. The silent faith that held her together. And the quiet voice that finally said, "This is my truth." © 2025 AJ Gabriel. All rights reserved.
