Impediment Stories

This is a story based on a 14 year old girl called Abigail.Abigail finds it very hard to perform simple tasks such as conversationalising, meeting new people or making friends. Her mum is a workaholic and spares little time for Abigail, her father is always travelling since he lost his job, and her brother is settled at university with his girlfriend and hardly ever visits. Abigail has no one in her life she can rely on, she can't speak without stuttering and forms sentences very slowly. It isn't that she isn't intelligent, it's just all the things she has to say are trapped in her head. Abigail each morning and afternoon will walk along the beach and try practicing how to start a conversation without stuttering. Then she meets Polly. Polly is 88 years old and will also be seen strolling across the beach with her sheepdog. One day Polly starts to talk to Abigail and changes her life. She finds courage and talents in Abigail . But most of all helps her with a very important boy.

A poem about my personal speech impediment. It seems to always come out at the worst parts, mainly when reading a poem or story for either a slam or in-class reading...
