Revisiting my character Brian Holtz because I miss the guy. Brian Holtz doesn't know why he's been imprisoned. He doesn't know why he's being tortured. He does know his name and that he loves Nikole. Krios, his captor, wants to destroy Brian's greatest weapon: his mind. Brian knows his only chance of escaping is not letting Krios win with his psychological games.

Tied to what seems to her as an infinitely long five years at Queens Youth Offenders Institute, Number Twenty-Six has gotten used to the aspect of ordinary. Her whole life consists around a fixed, repetitive and generally boring routine, day in, day out: The same old no-nonsense, disciplinary lifestyle. But that all changes when, at a secret event fixed by the sneaky inmates at Prison Ward X, a bit of fun goes horribly, awfully wrong and Twenty-Six's regular life is suddenly spun out of control.

That is, until she actually escapes. Extract: I unbind her wrists as she wriggled out of my grasp. "What are you doing?" She asked me. "Freeing you!" I shouted softly. "Why?" Because I can't bear to see you like this obviously. But I couldn't say that. She hated me. She has all the reasons to. I didn't. To me, she was the first person that had ever made me feel something. I didn't like it; it made me do stupid things like what I had been doing then. I grabbed her hand, encasing her small palm, but she shook it off. "Let go! What gives you the permission to touch me?!" I dropped my hand. Screw you, weird feeling! Stop making me do these things! I silently thanked the darkness because she couldn't see the blush tinging my cheeks from the embarrassment of trying to hold her hand. She walked past me, scent floating alongside her, and I had to remind myself that I hated her or it would have gone wrong. I heard a noise, and involuntarily pressed my arm against her chest to keep her to the wall. I could feel her heartbeat thundering. She opened her mouth to protest. "Shut up, can't you hear someone?"
