In the future, where mutations have taken over DNA, everyone has some kind of ability. There are pyrokinetics, telekinetics... Carys' parents were both telepathics. The only problem is... she isn't one. Carys isn't anything. She is one of the people in society that are considered Impurities, a person who doesn't have an ability. Impurities are considered dangerous and Unpredictable, and are taken away from their families to be isolated in a quarantine, then executed once they turn 18. Carys is thrown in a cell with a 17 year-old-boy named Magnum, who is determined to escape before his time is up.

Tanaka Hayate should have been born a boy; after all, she was the first grandchild of Tanaka Daisetsu, the great leader of the gumi. Perhaps her gender was the reason she was often cast aside as a potential asset, or perhaps it was her inability to control her emotions. Whatever the case may be, it never took away from the dirty truth that she was impure as the water droplets on decomposing trash.
