"Many things can go wrong- scratch that many things will go wrong!" I whisper-yelled.
"You worry too much. Plus if you jinx it." I heard him mutter. We heard footsteps grow heavy almost like the person was tired. "On second thought maybe you're right, Mingi had a nice run." He walked past me but I pulled him back from the collar.
"Nice try, now shut up and stand there." I pointed next to the door after the footsteps were no longer heard.
"Yeah sure, if they come in they'll kill me first, see this is why, why are you like this?"
Even though I knew he was playing and he was trying to "lighten the mood" or whatever. His "fake" panicking made me have an anxiety meltdown. "San, shut up." Is all I said. He looked a bit embarrassed, he was trying to help and I shut him down completely. I sighed. "Be grateful, if anything, if they were to come in they'll look straight ahead, which is where I'll be. Not you."
"Wait" his voice sounded more serious, more demanding in a sense. "You'd risk your life, to save Mingi's? Even though he basically asked for what is happening to him?"
His question made my breath hitch and I thought back. I questioned myself, to find the "right" way to answer him.
Was I really willing to risk my life for Mingi? And who would've thought saving Mingi would be up to me and San specifically.
