Fifteen-year-old Sajidah Williams has waited years for the headmaster of her school to tell her who her parents are and why they abandoned her to his care at Bon Coeur Academy, a boarding school on the edge of the French Quarter in New Orleans. When the headmaster dies, Saj sets out to find answers. In the process she uncovers a secret school within a school, where reincarnated golden children from all over the world are trained to use the knowledge and wisdom accumulated over lifetimes for good-or for evil. When the headmaster's granddaughter becomes the new headmaster, she aims to rid the school of all students who are not reincarnates and to return Bon Coeur to the glory of its dark past. Saj has to decide what is more important, figuring out who she is or helping her friends take back control of Bon Coeur from the odious new headmaster. When the plot to protect the school fails, Saj is expelled and taken in by a group of reincarnated street kids who initiate her in the sacred mysteries of survival, friendship and the soul. It will take everything she has learned to win the final battle and realize her destiny. Can Saj save herself, her school, and determine the karmic fate of reincarnates everywhere?
