Nearly five weeks after the events of Crooked Kingdom, Inej has set sail in her new war ship leaving Kaz to figure out how to function without her, and Wylan and Jesper to keep him from doing something stupid. Only three days after her departure, a mysterious assassin appears seeking revenge on Inej, and Jesper is given a note with an offer for Inej. An offer to join an invisible guild of assassins. Follow the crows as they try to handle one last adventure, the shadows of their pasts, and their plans for the future. (A/N This is mostly a Kanej fanfic. Will Kaz successfully save his Wraith with his Crows, go insane in the process, or BOTH?

This is a retelling of the musical Next to Normal with our favorite Crows- and a big brother- along for the ride! I have of course changed some things from the musical to fit in more with the characters of the Crows, but the basic plot will be the same! No need to know the show either, it's a full story in and of itself!

He'd expected her to say friends, or to at least settle on allies, but her real response was a fist to the gut. "Was Jordie just an investment to you too, Kaz?" Kaz went still. Inej's eyes widened slowly in realization. "Kaz, I-" she started. "No," Kaz murmured, "My brother was not an investment." "I didn't mean-" "-And I lost him," he snapped his gaze to her with sudden force, "But you know what I don't lose, Wraith? I don't lose on my investments. I always invest wisely. I always read the market. And I always turn a profit. I intend to do just that."
