The story takes place in the distant future billions of years ahead of our time. The Earth has been saved from annihilation by ancient humans that wanted to protect it for nostalgic reasons. These ancient humans have travelled far beyond Earth but have come back to observe the progress of the beings now inhabiting it. Astredes is a warrior living on the ancient Earth. She has no knowledge of what lies beyond the planet, but intends to find out what happened to the humans who left the planet behind.

*IN PROGRESS* Almost two-thirds of humanity's nearly 12 billion people have left the planet in massive ships, en route to the Gliese system in search of new homes. Those left alone must battle feral brutality and forge a new society amid the darkness, while those soaring through the cosmos must deal with their own descent into madness; each group teeters on the brink of losing their humanity.
