The man with the empty fortune is about a guy called Nickolas Johnson. He grew up in poverty post world war in England 1955. After a violent fight with his father, Nickolas Johnson falls under the influence of his wealthy, manipulative Uncle Edward, a man who cloaks greed and power un the language of faith. Edward draws Nick into London's elite political and business circles, a world built on moral corruption, disguised as righteousness.
As Nick grew closer to Edward, his faith warps into justification, his ambition into pride. Each chapter mirrors one of the seven deadly sins, charting Nicks slow descent as he sins, rationalises, and then sanctifies his wrongdoing.
He starts by leaving home, convinced pride is strength. From there, he is drawn into Edwards trade empire, political dealings, and public image of holiness preaching the name of God. But beneath the marble churches and golden offices lies rot: journalists like Martha Reed and idealists like William and police officials start to expose the truth.
Nicks tragedy isn't that he becomes a monster, it's that he believes he's doing God's work while becoming one. Each sin brings his closer to power, and farther from redemption, until his 'faith' no longer belongs to God at all, but to himself.
